Saint of the Day
St. Gianna Beretta Molla illustrates today’s ACR theme of the right to life and the dignity of the human person. She’s one of our newest saints, canonized in 2004 by Pope John Paul II. An active Catholic laywoman, wife and mother, living in Italy, her sainthood comes in part from her courageous stand in favor of life.
Living Faith
Michaelene Fredenburg is the creator of Abortion Changes You outreach and author of Changed: Making Sense of Your Own or a Loved One's Abortion Experience. Michealene chose an abortion when she was 18 and because of what she went through is now reaching out to others to provide a safe place of healing. She pays attention to all those involved, including family and friends who are affected by the abortion.
Ask a Franciscan
Father Dan Kroger responds to questions:
• Why do we fold our hands during prayer?
• Why is there temporal punishment for sins even after they've been forgiven?
• Since Mary was conceived without sin, why did she need redemption?
• May a Catholic marry an unbaptized person in the Catholic Church?
Minute Meditation
This program’s Minute Meditation is from Making Sense of God: A Woman’s Perspective by Elizabeth A. Dreyer.
Portrait of Paul
In today’s Church, a priest who wishes to minister in a diocese other than his own must apply to the bishop of that place for approval to preach and work. It’s a wise policy, and one that has its roots in today’s portrait from Father Norman Langenbrunner, who tells how Paul needed to establish his own credentials as an apostle.
