American Catholic Radio
American Catholic Radio (ACR) is a weekly half-hour program of Catholic information and inspiration to help you know your faith, so you can grow in your faith. Father Greg Friedman, O.F.M., hosts the program.
Most Current Program: Are you an evangelizer? How do you share your faith with others? From the first pages of the gospel, Jesus came to bring Good News. As Christians, our call is the same. Listen to program #09-08 (February 16, 2009) (Help) #09-08 (February 16, 2009) Highlights from this episode of American Catholic Radio include: Saint of the Day St. Mark
Scripture scholars tell us that the authorship of the Gospel of Mark may not be the disciple of Paul of the same name mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles. But the story of this early Christian missionary is part of the witness of faith we find in the New Testament. Living Faith David Bisono, national youth director for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal
Movement, knows what it's like to be into drugs and run with the wrong crowd.
He turned his life around and now ministers to the mainly Hispanic youth
in the Diocese of Brooklyn, N.Y. He coordinates many ministries that teach
about the love of Jesus and the many gifts of the Catholic Church.
Ask a Franciscan Father Greg Friedman answers questions: 1) What is the significance of the
altar stone? 2) May the American flag be draped over a veteran's coffin during
the funeral Mass? 3) How soon after Mass must the Eucharist be delivered
to the sick? 4) Does the Church refer to the people or the governing
body?

Portrait of Paul Where Do We Find Paul’s Life Story?
The Acts of the Apostles is devoted to story of Paul’s life and missionary journeys. But Father Norman Langenbrunner cautions us not to look to Acts for biography as we know it. Exploring Our Faith Our Sunday gospels this year come—in large measure—from the Gospel
of Mark. To give us insights on the gospel, we spoke with Dr. John Pilch, adjunct
assistant professor of biblical literature in the Department of Theology at
Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He also has taught Scripture in Hong
Kong, South Africa and Poland, and lectures extensively around the world on
the Mediterranean cultural context of the Bible and wellness spirituality, particularly
the understanding of health, sickness and healing in antiquity.
