To help us focus on the corporal works of mercy, we visit today with a character featured in the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. She was a 20th-century American foundress of the Servants of Relief for Incurable Cancer. She devoted 33 years of her life to that corporal work of mercy. Living Faith Mary Diane Steltenkamp had been working as a nurse for years when she had the
chance to bring her faith into her profession. She began serving as a parish
nurse and helped to begin a parish nursing program and resource center at
Catholic Charities in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ask a Franciscan Father Dan Kroger responds to questions: How should I deal with an adult child
who is abusive and disrespectful? How do I regain my Catholic status following
instructions in, but not conversion to, Judaism?

Portrait of Paul St. Paul and Sexuality
In observance of the Year of St. Paul, we bring you another Portrait of Paul from Father Norman Langenbrunner. What does St. Paul have to say about marriage, sex and celibacy? According to Father Norm, modern scholars have difficulty interpreting what the apostle had in mind. Exploring Our Faith Author Antoinette Bosco writes from the experiences and events that have shaped her life. She is the author of more than 250 magazine articles and nine books. She has also been a syndicated columnist for Catholic News Service since 1974. Two tragedies have marked her life in recent years: the suicide of her son, Peter, and the murder of another son, John, and his wife Nancy. These events, she writes, have challenged me deeply to confront who I am, what kind of faith in life can I still hold on to, who is my God and can I rise from these ashes and still love life. She focuses on forgiveness, one of the spiritual works of mercy.
