Father Jim Van Vurst, O.F.M.

  Fr. Jim Van Vurst, OFM has been a Franciscan Friar for 55 years and a priest for 47 years. After ordination, he received his graduate degree in psychology and taught 15 years in his Province’s Franciscan college seminary. He has done Pastoral Counseling in mental health clinics. His ministries also include 15 years as chaplain at a maternity home, 11 years as Pastoral Care Director in a large Midwestern retirement and nursing center as well as administration in his own Franciscan Province.

Fr. Jim currently leads retreats and recollection days and provides spiritual direction. His travels have taken him to Rome and Assisi, as well as to Nicaragua, El Salvador and Peru. He is member of the Americancatholic.org ministry team.

  Judy is a native of Indiana. After graduating with a double major in Telecommunications and Spanish, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and worked in corporate video production as editor, producer and director. Her primary jobs are wife and mother. She and her husband have four children. She’s been fortunate enough to have been a part of the St. Anthony Messenger family for the past 14 years, working in both video and radio production. She currently produces the “Living Faith” segment on American Catholic Radio, a weekly program.
